Gameplay

A two player co-op adventure/shooter game where you play as one of two robots that has to escape the mine they have been working in. Working together to kill enemies and collecting parts for the broken down elevator to be able to escape is the goal of the game.

What I did

In this project I had the role of Game Designer. I was in charge of the design decisions we made, and those decisions were often based on the results of our once a week game tests. We worked in a agile workflow and I was in charge of project management, and both created, and managed our sprints.

I also created prototypes for diffrent parts of the game, like a cooldown system and a pick-up effect. I did the basic scripting myself, later developed and refined by the groups programmers. The prototyping is where I learned the most about what worked and what didn't, it also gave me the chance to try out ideas and concepts with out having to create a finished mechanic and avoiding spending to much time on something that might be scraped later.

The biggest lesson I took from the development of this game was the size of the scope. Our scope was to big for what time constraints we had, of the eight week course only about six weeks was actual development since we the first two weeks had other assignments.
